The Italian Government has given the ability for each municipalities in Italy to decide if they wish to introduce a stay tax levied on tourists. This has been implemented sporadically throughout Italy with each municipalities deciding how they collect this. The tax broadly ranges from €1-€5 per person per night and is generally collected from each passenger on arrival. Day 1

TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Following our Channel crossing to Calais, we complete the journey to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (D)

Day 2

FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL TO STRESA
We complete the journey to our resort on the shores of Lake Maggiore, arriving in time for dinner. (B, D)

Day 3

FREE DAY
Enjoy a day at leisure in Stresa. Why not take a boat trip to the Borromean Islands comprising of Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre? On Isola Bella, you can also visit the beautiful Borromeo Palace and Gardens that boast a series of ornate and overlapping terraces containing many rare and exotic plants. (B, D)

Day 4

LUGANO
We travel to the Swiss resort of Lugano, set on its own lake, partly in Italy and partly in Switzerland. With its compact piazzas and extensive tree-lined promenades, Lugano is the most alluring to the Ticino regions lake resorts. At the centre of the town is the Piazza della Riforma, a huge café lined square near the lake. (B,D)

Day 5

LAKE COMO
Today we travel to Lake Como. At the heart of Como's walled Old Town, the Piazza San Fedele has many 400 year old buildings and a beautiful basilica. At the top of Via Contu you will see the old wall's most spectacular standing tower, the Porta Vittoria. Climb the hill behind it and go to the top of Barodello Tower for a lovely view of the entire lake. (B,D)

Day 6

LAKE ORTA
Today we enjoy a leisurely excursion to Lake Orta, one of the smallest of northern Italy's Alpine lakes. We travel via Omega to the charming car free lakeside village of Orta San Giulio. The picturesque lakeside central square, with its frescoed 16th century town hall, overlooks the island of San Giulio. (B, D)

Day 7

STRESA TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We depart our hotel and continue to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (B,D)

Day 8

FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Continue to Calais and complete the journey home. (B)
